Dry Pipe Sprinkler System

System used where freezing is a concern, commonly found in unheated attics & combustible concealed spaces. Pipes contain air under pressure.

Preaction Sprinkler System

System attached to a dry system. Found in areas where accidental discharge is a concern. Heads must open and detection device open valve for water flow to occur.

Deluge Sprinkler System

System commonly found covering hazardous areas where rapid release is desired. Heads are always open and all discharge when a detection device opens the water flow valve.

Wet Pipe Sprinkler System

System where pipes contain water and heads immediately release water upon opening.

Antifreeze Sprinkler System

System attached to a wet system where sections of the pipe subject to freezing contain an antifreeze solution and are separated from other piping by a flowback prevention assembly.

Water Mist systems

This type of system is typically used where water damage may be a concern, or where water supplies are limited. NFPA 750[9] defines water mist as a water spray with a droplet size of "less than 1000 microns at the minimum operation pressure of the discharge nozzle."
